My sister's boyfriend just came home from abroad. He went straight to my sister's even though he lives in Cebu. Why not, right? Its like Luzon-Visayas distance from home. They went to Mall of Asia, then, they watched Transformers there. Hmmm, too bad I can't be a free rider in the scene - no chaperones allowed. My mom and I then caught up with them. Atoy gave

us a treat at Sakura (my first time there). Its a Japanese Resto, so there goes my default order, California Maki. Not much of a fan of Japanese food. They all went for the Bento. Good for me I settled for the maki, because it was one hell of a serving. Oh so filling, but too much for them to handle. Food is food, shouldn't be put to waste. I also had my debut at Krispy Kreme. Fine! Loser me. Just staying away from the sinful fried carb. But then again, I wanted to try it. Ordered a large hot cappuccino a while ago. Not really ecstatic about it, but it really is doing its job in keeping me awake - the only reason why I'm blogging right now, hahaha! Hmmm. And another thing, why did I buy my fourth dose of coffee for the day at Krispy Kreme MoA? Well, its because I was with my mom, and I know just the trick to make her buy me one. When the opportunity comes, go and grab it! My philosophy right there.

I Want Iraheta Fuchsia!

I am pulling all my strength to post these photos (Weh?! Takte, tatlo kaya to, kapal muks!). Anyway, I took these photos and posted it here because I wanted to keep track of the hairstyles I had on top of my head. I always want something new. I had my hair grow down to my shoulder, and even so thin as if I'm bald. Here goes another style. I got it cut at Bench Fix Trinoma.

Not happy with this haircut, I'm not really into putting wax all over my hair. It consumes time to style with and I hate that its sticky, like when it is on my hand. The next hairstyle that I want is something that would not need any product to style. One-sided bangs perhaps. And I want it Allison Iraheta fuchsia!! Hahaha! Like Michael Slezak, hehehe! Yet Another Year - Did I Learn My Lesson?

It sucks. It totally sucks! I'm still in college. I just can't get over it. I can never get used to it. All I do is trying not to think of it. I always tell myself that I hate regrets, but with my academic run, there is just no other choice...

Somebody from my organization asked me to write tips on studying. The hell! Hahaha! They totally got the wrong person doing it. But then, he insisted on it. Here goes, hahaha! Hey! I did a lot of thinking here, haha! Also stole ideas from past articles of the same topic, hahaha! Still cheating, hahaha!


Are you new to the university? Check out these tips!

1. Play it safe, aim for a one (1)
Targeting just a passing grade will get you nowhere. It won’t give you the gist of a course. It can also add to those times that you regret all your life – if you fall short from a 3 (passing grade in UP grading system), it will end up you taking removals, worse, retaking the subject. You wouldn’t want to a get a 4 (for removals) and definitely not a 5 (fail), right?

2. Cramming is not your guy, totally avoid him.
Include in your daily routine some time for studying. It makes everything flow smoother. Studying won’t be a drag if you do it little by little. Cramming everything the day before an exam is a mortal sin. Memorization alone will not save you – intensive skills are needed in solving. It is impossible to gain this in just one night. Escape that panic.
If you have breaks in between your classes, sandwich some study time right there. Just find your academic niche in the campus. Engineering Library II is one of the cool spots – nice lighting, air conditioner on and most importantly, that geeky feeling, haha!

3. Practice solving.
So how can you ace exams? Practice solving a lot. It prevents the dreaded “mental block” and it does decrease the time you spend solving a problem. That would buy you time to review your answers during exams. Problem sets, take home quizzes, assignments, machine exercises, plates – just do them seriously and you are in the right track. Learn to do them by yourself. If you can’t, then be sure to understand the method as you try to seek help. Why? Because it’s possible that REAL EXAMS will resemble these given take homes. If you have more time, try more exercises, say those from the books you use in your subjects.
You can never blame not passing an exam to a professor that does not teach well. You have to take into account that still, everything is in your hands. If you think the professor is not doing his or her job well, then it should be your prerogative to study more – so, practice more! Yay!

4. Learn to manage your time, prioritize & plan ahead.
List the things that you should accomplish, both academic and extra-curricular. Rank them according to priority. Of course, studying should be on top of your list. Take note of the dates of your exams. Sometimes, everything is on one day. Better do something precautious rather than cram everything in one night. Remember, you are a student. However, chances are, when you do nothing but study, there comes a point that you will be saturated and toxic. Its either you lose your concentration or you just get fed off studying. Take your time off. Release your stress. Strike a balance.
Stick with your plan as much as possible. Avoid diversions. Assume that you easily get distracted with stuff that tickles your curiosity and desires, hahah! So be strong!

5. If all else fails, call for backup
Consultation. If you misunderstood a concept or two, why look for someone else when you can ask it directly to your professor. Be sure to take note of their consultation hours. They expect students to visit them in those times. He/she will gladly answer any of your queries. By any chance, that you can’t seem to find time with your professor, find somebody else who could help you. You could even drop by ERG tambayan to grab a copy of sample exams or even books.
Group study. Generally, studying in groups works well. Keeps you awake. Gives you a hand with difficult concepts. Finds you somebody who share your misery, haha! Just be careful with choosing your group. You might end up doing something not so academic. Stick with the reason why you are together. And very important, be sure to read ahead of the group study. Make the benefit mutual, have something to share to them. It could also get you alienated in the discussions if you don’t know a thing they are talking about.

6. Check your standing.
Let’s say you did your best, and yet, you are in the brink of flunking a subject – don’t panic. Recognize where you are standing at and do some action. Compute for your target grade to pass the course. It will serve as your motivation to do better. Dropping is not a mighty solution. Don’t fail yourself before your professor does. Realize the domino effect it will take on your road to graduation.
However, miracle does happen. I mean, if you did your part and still troubled, majority of your classmates might share the same burden. Your saviour, the curve, just might save you. Hmmm, but don’t count on it.

7. Be physically and mentally present in class.
Listen to your teachers. Usually, teachers in our department are basing their exams in their lectures. Take down notes. It serves you another purpose by the way – not sleeping in class. Doing advanced reading will help a lot. It is not expected that you should have already understood it before class, but it will more or less give you a feel of what to expect. Trying to list down what you don’t understand while reading would be a bright move. Ideally, after a class, these questions would have been answered.

At the end of the day, just reflect on why you are in college. Everything will fall into place if you are determined to realize your goals. These tips might not apply to you, but as long as you know what you want, you will come up with your own set of tips that is tailor-fit to you. Every thing is a case-to-case basis after all.
If you haven’t thought about it, you better start thinking. Have a mind set. Brainwash yourself if necessary. You have to reprogram your lifestyle while you still can. Start drawing those patterns for your five yours. Have it tailor-fit.

I really love blogging and with these not-so-contented fingers, it brought me to microblogging. I was trying to resist it before, then next thing, I'm on Plurk and Twitter. Beat that! Hehehe! After a while, here goes what I was trying to get out off - maintaining accounts. I'm not much of a bum anymore. I go to school and work part-time. I hardly go online. Frustration plays its role again - my karma in Plurk is going down big time. I had 95.xx already and then it went down.

Good thing I heard from Jo yesterday. She told me about karma freeze. It was just the thing. Here goes! I call upon the powers that surround me! Karma Freeze!! Boom!

Stalking Lauren Lee Smith!

How could I miss movies like this? Lauren Lee Smith is here, so is Allysa Milano (loved her in Charmed)! I first encountered Lauren Lee Smith in CSI Las Vegas, Season 9 as Riley Adams. Her character in CSI is just so cool. I love everything about her. Being the stalker that I am, I surfed through some things about her and ended up with this movie. I'm done with Blake Lively, here is another victim, hahaha! Expect more posts about Agent Riley Adams. Bonus is Milo Ventimiglia of Heroes - Peter Petrelli he is. He's the lead by the way, hahaha!

Allison Iraheta Is Doing Jive Records!!

How can I miss this!? Tsktsk! Its been all over the net. Allison Iraheta signed a record with Jive Records. It is the same record label that did David Archuleta. Guess what, Archie is bigger than Cook right now according to blog posts I read. Hahaha! Anyways, here it is, see for yourself! Allison will really make it big for sure!!

Here is the spill verbatim from 96.5 KISS FM in Cleveland (malamang sa US, hehe!).

"Allison Iraheta seemed like an early favorite on American Idol season 8, but she came in 4th like Idol alum Chris Daughtry. He’s had massive success - so Allison probably has a bright future ahead of her. She recently signed with Jive Records - following in the footsteps of previous Idol loser David Archuleta."

Iraheta fans are just so excited! Count me in! I even felt really, really bad by her exiting the American Idol at 4th place. I wept for weeks, hahaha! There was no sense at it after all. They were right, as Adam said, they know the show is just a platform, not a singing competition. Check fan comments from a post in MJ's Big Blog.

The records don’t come out in order of how they finished on the program. Just last year, DA’s came out before DC’s. Kellie’s came out whenever because she was doing country and Kat’s record had nothing to do with hers. People need to understand that Idol is a tv show. When it ends, the top 10 are in the real world. The real world doesn’t operate according to Idol rules. The real marketplace has its own logic and its own rules.

I’m thrilled, but not surprised, that Allison is being signed and will have top-notch support. I expected no less. I feel that she and Adam were the most talented from the season, followed by Kris. Allison is my favorite, I love her voice, and her personality and attitude, she’s going to be a big, big star, she’s incredible. Can’t wait.

Just do it Allison!! Yay!

Some Personality and A Little Credit

After a while… well, a long, long while, I woke up to the reality that my blog theme (Blog and Web|Design Disease) before is crappy. I was blinded by cool choice of colors by my previous theme. But then again, it didn’t represent my faves – orange, baby blue, violet, pink and yellow orange (totally not!). Wait, let me think again. Maybe a bit, hahaha! I have this tendency to be unconventional. I hate norms in the sense that people judge based on the jurisdiction of the majority. Colors for instance, if you mix up violet, pink or some loud color, you will be branded gay or something (Or am I getting too paranoid again?). Having said that, I find myself with options that not so many go into. Sometimes, I go out of bounds, to the extent that I do not represent my personality, and so, here goes my impulse to change my blog theme. Here is how my blog used to look like:

Besides the theme, I changed the title of my blog from “ErIdAnArE-oRdInArE” to “BINOG.” When I started blogging in October 2006, I came out with the first name, Eridanare, which is my Sniper in Ragnarok. “Ordinare” right there radiates my self-esteem issues. I always had it on my back since childhood and up until now, I can’t seem to get over it. I’m giving myself a little credit by getting it off my blog title, and here goes a re-rebirth of this blog, tenenen! Here comes this brat that will continue to annoy your world!

Is Adam Lambert The Deal Or Not?

The world is conspiring in attaching the sexual orientation issue into the career of Adam Lambert, but I don't think he gives a damn at it all. He is just all about giving good music. I mean, he rules in giving good music, include a pinch of surprise at the side. They can brand him as the "guy-liner", but that won't take away the craziness in his range and interpretation. Here is one of my favorites from him. Try googling this song. It has a lot of history, wikipedia can be comprehensive enough I think. Check the article here. It was released in 1964 by Sam Cooke and was rendered by a lot of famous artists, watch Seal right here for a taste of it. And finally, the coolest version ever, of course, from Adam Lambert. Unclutter

Stress. (borrowed the first sentence from Becky Galicha) I’ve been hearing this word a lot lately and sometimes, it even comes out of my mouth. Well, actually, I think I made a life out of it myself.

People thought I handle stress pretty well. What they don’t know is that cats and dogs are running inside my head most of the time. Outlet equals paranoia 

plus moodiness.  Or at least that’s the way I would call it. I always assume that people are mad at me in one way or another, hmmm, by overanalyzing gestures. Meanwhile, when everything is too hard on me, I tend not to treat other people justly. I could just remember my ex-dormmate Barnet talking how my roommates tolerate my mood swings. When it does its act, it would mean me filtering what I hear and what I see. Snob would describe that alter ego best. By the way, a Facebook quiz diagnosed me of schizophrenia.

Unclutter my life. That is the mission I have to deal with right now. I did a lot of meditation, again (got Danny Gokey right there for the second time). I felt like I make my burden lighter by making things a little less annoying. Makes sense, right? I could just remember the time I came back at home (after a long long while) after last semester, I felt disoriented. I was alienated at my own home. There were piles of everything everywhere. I tried to put things the way I wanted them to be organized but that caused small fights. Finally, I found refuge in this very spot, in front of my PC. I almost spent my 24/7 right here for the past month now. Today is a big leap! I wanted to achieve something and I got it! From 75 Yahoo! Groups, I cut them down to 33!! Maybe not a lot of progress, but at least, I’m getting there! Fwahahah!

Me, myself and I is a mess. I sleep at night frustrated and open my eyes in the morning with nothing changed. Anyway, I have to live with it, like I have any choice. Now that I am 21, I have to make every decision smart and today, I will start to unclutter the mess I did to my life. Or at least, I could try, right?
